I am sorry to say that I am not going to have any fabulous pictures from this boring trip to England. Apparently we are 70 miles from London but for some reason it seems to be almost impossible to get there without a car! I just got back from the Travel Office and they looked at me like I was nutso when I asked about going to London for the day! Initially I wasn't going to go to the travel office because I wasn't positive I would be able to find it. After lunch with Deaner, one of the people he is working with here took me and dropped me off there. When it was time for me to make my way home I glanced around to decide which way to start walking. Imagine my surprise when I realized I was directly across the street from our hotel! DUH! Our window looks directly at the door of the travel office! Sometimes I wonder about myself.
So I thought y'all would get a kick out of this. I was looking around on my nightstand last night and I found this long yellow card.I didn't know whether to laugh or be seriously worried when I realized that it was a flyer telling guests how to document receiving a BOMB THREAT! WTF? I have so many questions about this it isn't even funny! First, the card asks that the guest record the number at which the threat was received, length of call, time of call, and date of call.Don't forget to record the EXACT wording of the threat before turning this in! The next part of the card lists the questions that they would appreciate you asking the threatening caller while you have him/her on the phone.Good gracious! I'd say that if someone who had placed a bomb happened to call my room to tell ME about it, I doubt they would be lingering on the phone to answer my questions! Excuse me Mr. bomb placer, could please tell me when the bomb will explode, where it is, what it looks like, what will cause it to explode, where you are at this time, and also, what is your name please? I just have this little form I have to fill out about your threat! Here are pictures of the information the back of the card requests. You can bet your butt that if I ever get a bomb threat called in to my room, I'm probably not going to leisurely fill out this card and drop it off at the drop desk on my way out the door. I am OUTTA HERE!
So the story about Deaner filing his nails! For some reason Deaner's finger nails grow faster than any human I know. He constantly has to clip his nails to keep from having girl nails. :) The other day he couldn't find his finger nail clippers. Instead of waiting for me to go to the exchange the next day to buy him some new ones he decided it had to be done immediately. He has this little pocket knife that has a pair of scissors in them. Yes, that's right, he cut his nails with those little scissors! SICK! When he was done all his nails were pointy and he looked like Freddy Kruegar! He had to borrow my nail file to fix them. Needless to say I think that next time he will wait for a new set of clippers! :)
I'm off to watch The Hills! I have 4 episodes to catch up on!

What the heck! Ya you can bet I'd be hightailing it out of that hotel!
I can't believe dinner cut his nails with scissors! That guy ;)
My parents lived in England for several years. Of all of the European countries, it seems like the UK is where you have to drive the most. My parents still go on trips over there for work and find that they always need a car. Even when my parents were living in Bristol, my father drove to work everyday rather than take public transportation. Not because they are against taking the trains and busses, but because the public transporation lacked a route that would take my father to his job!
Except for London proper, it's always a good thing to have a car in England!
Excellent report on the bomb scare form. Reminded me of this website -

I am coming to Germany to visit! YAYAYAYAY!
That stinks that you won't be able to go to London :-( Maybe you'll be able to make a 2nd trip another time!
Can you not take the train into london? Usually there's a stop almost everywhere over there.
Um...wow! That bomb threat card! You should totally take that as a souvenir. That's by far the craziest thing I think I've seen in a hotel. Who would sit there and fill that out?!?!?
We had those cards at the USO too. I always wondered what kind of bomber would tell me his name. Duh!
So funny!
The bomb threat report card is about the funniest thing I've ever seen. You should send it in to David Letterman or SNL. Can you get copies???
Been there done that with the bomb threat....and I can assure you that won't let you leave the hotel....but make sure they have a happy hour..love the new Windowboxes and Weissbier....It's great...Found two ties that I liked...Outlet Mall in the mountains so maybe I can find more...Miss you both.......have fun..
Why couldn't you go only 70 miles
