Bury St. Edmunds, England

So yesterday was a pretty great day! After I got done posting THREE posts, Deaner walked in the door from his meeting! It was only about 12:45pm and he was done with work! We went and ate lunch, shopped a little at the PX (not much going there but they had MUCH better purses there than at our PX), went to the book store and then came home and chilled out for a bit. After regrouping we decided that we were going to take a drive to the little town of Bury St. Edmunds, England. We didn't have a clue really of what we would find but we were pleasantly surprised! There was a beautiful Cathedral, really cool ruins of an old Abbey, the Greene King Beer Brewery, and lots of cute pubs. We walked around in the Abbey ruins for a bit and here are some pictures of that. The picture above is also part of the ruins. The Cathedral was really beautiful as well. Just outside the Cathedral was this really old cemetary! I wish that Deaner and I could have read the headstones a little bit more clearly. Most were completely eroded away but then there would be one that was really clear. It was sort of odd. The oldest one that we could make out had the person dying in 1804!! Geez!!We were sort of expecting the Greene King Brewery to be closed by the time we got to Bury St. Edmunds but it didn't stop of from walking around the brewery. It really smelled awful! I'm surprised that such great beer comes out of a building that stinks so bad! After all our walking around what better way to end the evening than with dinner at this cute this restaurant enjoying a Greene King! Actually, I had a Grolsh Blonde but Deaner did have a Greene King. The town is full of cute little pubs like this but really enjoyed this one! We will be returning to the Dog & Partridge! That about wraps up our afternoon in Bury St. Edmunds. Deaner wants to try and stay here next time we come to England. I said that was fine as long as he found a place with internet! He has to go back while I am in the United States next month so I won't be along on the next trip! I'm off to catch the shuttle to go pick up the car. Deaner has a meeting at 11 so I am going to run errands this afternoon before picking him up and heading out to our new house. We have to pick out tiles for our new patio that the current owner is putting in for us. We STILL haven't heard about financing but our financial consultant is in Greece this week so we probably won't hear until next week. This had better work out! Happy Thursday!
