So we have had a really fun weekend! Friday night we had dinner at Steph and Jon's before they left for Qatar for two weeks. Lots of people have asked me how I am going to survive with Steph gone for that long and the answer is, I HAVE NO IDEA! I am going to be so bored! Saturday morning Deaner and I woke up and drove to the little town of Moselkern which is near Koblenz, Germany. We had lunch in the little restuarant above (yes, Deaner is wearing a Marvel t'shirt, and yes, he is 32). After lunch we hiked back to Burg Eltz, a medieval castle when dates back to the 12th century! The hike was pretty short (meaning I didn't complain too much) and it was really pretty. The picture below is what it looked like for most of the 2.4km hike. After about a 40 minute hike you come to a clearing and can see the castle! It is stunning! Deaner and I visited all of Ludwig's Castles in Bavaria last summer but this castle definitely gives them a run for their money. It is Rick Steve's favorite castle in all of Germany. We have definitely perfected this shot. Here are a few more of the Castle. We got there at a funny time of day light wise. It was really really bright and slightly hazy so it made it sort of hard to take good pictures. Both of us really enjoyed Burg Eltz and had a great time there. We didn't get back to Wiesbaden until almost 7pm so we took quick showers and walked up to one of my favorite restaurants here, Restaurant Bolognia. It is an Italian Restaurant close to the hotel and the food is phenomenal. It is a tiny little cozy restaurant and I know that it will be great on the COLD days in Germany that we are bound to experience. I even tried Deaner's white asperagus soup and thought that it was delicious! Today we slept in and then drove to a town called Biebrich which is down by the river. We had read about a Mexican restaurant there and had been wanting to try it. Mexican is one type of food that we can pretty much eat ANYTIME. The restaurant was pretty good. At least they didn't serve us DORITOS with our salsa like some places! Here is what our food looked like. Now Deaner is downstairs trying to work off all the chips and cheese! Tonight will probably be a quiet night. I hope that this week isn't entirely boring! I also hope my Rome travel books get here! Only 3 weeks til our trip! Hope everyone has a good week!

I think it's always hazy there! It was the same when I went, and the same for some of my friends.

And a fascinating fact I learned about white asparagus...You can sometimes see little white tents around Germany. Usually these are for the asparagus. They keep it covered to prevent photosynthesis, and therefore, the green color. I thought that was cool. I just assumed it grew white on its own. Duh!

I hate when you post pictures of the food you are eating. I get so HUNGRY looking at them, I immediately sign off, go upstairs and rummage through the frig for something. BUT, it's NEVER as good as what Deaner is eating!!
